The Association for the Intellectually Disabled (AIDSL) Golden Jubilee Conference and Workshop
AIDSL is a national organization established for caring for the welfare of Intellectually Disabled (ID) persons, the most marginalized segment of our society. Established originally as the Ceylon Association for the Mentally Retarded in 1969, it completes its 50th Anniversary of dedicated service this year.
To mark this occasion, a conference will be held at Kingsbury Hotel, Fort on the 11th October from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm and a Workshop at Hotel Sapphire, Wellawatta on the 12th October from 8.30 am to 2.00 pm.
Invited speakers from the Ministries of Health, Education, Social Services, and Representatives of Social Service Organizations and Universities will deliver presentations, highlighting the problem faced by ID persons, and proposals for their solution.
Parties interested in the welfare of ID parsons including their parents, teachers in special education units and in institutions providing shelter, training and care for ID persons and policy makers are invited to participate in these two events. Proceedings will be in Sinhala.
Cost of participation in the Conference will be Rs.4,000 per head and in the Workshop Rs.2000 per head. Participation in both events will cost Rs. 5,000 per head.
